Ornamental
Castings manufactures scale models and components for the
modelling enthusiast. They use advanced spin casting techniques
for pewter casting of fine detail model parts. Low melt pewter
casting metails are poured into a rubber mould which is spun
at high speed forcing the metal to flow into all parts of
the pewter casting mould. All types of detailed model components
can be made in this way and you will end up with a high quality
pewter casting which can be glued, painted drilled and sanded
to create a modelling masterpiece.
For larger components which aren't suitable for pewter casting, resin molds are used to create urethane castings. These have just as much detail and can also be glued, painted, tapped and drilled.
Ornamental castings
is owned and operated by John Dersch, in Sydney N.S.W. Now
in is sixth year of operation manufacturing fine detailed
model components in several model areas. Components for model
trains, model cars, and model trucks. John started casting
model items for his own use in 1990. A range of model railway
accessories, Uneek Models in HO 1:87 scale, started the same
year. These items were very well received by the Australian
model railway enthusiast and now number over 100 items in
the range.

Urethane
castings cast in resin molds contain high detail and
are light in weight. Resin castings can contain large,
solid cast pieces with minimal shrinkage and surface
distortion. |

Ornamental
Castings also do brass castings. See the fine details
in these axlebox castings. |
All
Pewter castings along with brass and resin castings
can be painted and weathered to create realistic models.
|
|
Pewter
Casting can also be achieved using one of the many
high temperature silicone rubbers which can be found
here
without the need for a spin caster but it does slow
the process down and is more difficult with ultra
fine parts. |
